Data & Signals in Physical Layer

Data in physical layer may be Analog or Digital. both Analog and Digital signal are electromagnetic signals

  1. Analog data in continuous manner. represent by Analog Signals
  2. Digital Data in discrete manner in the form of 0′ and 1′ represent by Digital Signals

Analog Signals

Analog signals represent in Wave form they are continuous signals.

Analog signals represent Infinite no of value with in range

represent as a sine wave.

amplitude and frequency changes are frequent in analog signals.

used in analog devices.

Digital Signals

Digital signals represent in 0 and 1′ form they are non-continuous signals means discrete signals.

Digital signals represent Limited no of value

That is clear signal value either 0 or 1 in binary format.

used in digital devices like computer, calculator etc

Key Points Between Analog and Digital Signals

Analog SignalsDigital Signals
ContinuousDiscrete
have infinite values with in rangehave define finite values with in range
Sine wave ShapeSquare Shape
Wave form0 and 1 form
Have analog datahave digital data in binary form
used in analog devices like watch, temperature etcused in digital devices like computer, calculator etc
complex processingeasier processing
Bandwidth consumption moreBandwidth consumption less
Analog signals are noisy signalsDigital signals not have noise

Periodic or Non Periodic Analog and Digital Signals

What is Period?

Ans:- When a signal complete its full pattern in measurable time frame called period.

Periodic Signals

Periodic Signals either be continuous or discrete.

the behavior of a periodic signal after a fixed time of interval is known. it means a signal which repeat itself after fixed time of period is called periodic signal.

Note:- Continuous periodic signal are called analog periodic signals and discrete periodic signal is called digital periodic signal.

Condition of Periodicity x(t)=x(t+T)

Where T is time period of x(t)

Aperiodic or Non-Periodic Signals

Aperiodic or Non-Periodic signal which show no repetation at any time of interval.

Note:- Aperiodic or Non-Periodic signal are not continuous signal

Aperiodic Signals also either be continuous or discrete.

Aperiodic Signal does not satisfy the condition of Periodicity x(t)=x(t+T)

x(t)≠x(t+T)

Key Points Between Periodic and Aperiodic Signals

Periodic Signals pattern are definiteAperiodic Signals pattern are indefinite
Periodic Signals repeat after fixed time amount of intervalAperiodic Signals does not repeat after fixed time amount of interval

  1. Thanks for the ideas shared on your own blog. Yet another thing I would like to express is that fat loss is not about going on a celebrity diet and trying to lose as much weight that you can in a few days. The most effective way to shed pounds is by having it slowly and gradually and using some basic suggestions which can make it easier to make the most out of your attempt to shed pounds. You may know and already be following some of these tips, however reinforcing know-how never damages.

  2. Great write-up, I am regular visitor of one抯 web site, maintain up the excellent operate, and It’s going to be a regular visitor for a long time.

  3. I have been browsing on-line greater than 3 hours these days, but I by no means discovered any interesting article like yours. It is lovely price sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made just right content as you did, the web can be a lot more useful than ever before.

  4. I haven t checked in here for some time because I thought it was getting boring, but the last few posts are great quality so I guess I ll add you back to my everyday bloglist. You deserve it my friend 🙂
